Hima stakeholder engagement at Dura Quarry site

 

Hima occasionally invites stakeholders and members of the community to visit the quarry sites located around the plant specifically to enable them have a better understanding of the operations that occur at these sites.

 

On August 9-10, 2011... Hima organized an Open Day focusing on the Dura Quarry. This day provides an opportunity for the stakeholders to give feedback, seek clarification and clear doubts on various issues related to the Hima business.

 

Employee Visit

 

As core stakeholders of the organization, the employees of Hima were reserved for a whole day to visit the Dura Quarry. 28 employees, some of whom have been at the plant for about 2 decades and had never been to Dura, got the opportunity to tour the site.

 

Stakeholders and Community Visit

 

Hima had over 100 community members and key stakeholders from Kamwenge district gracing the occasion. The 1st tour group composed of the villagers nearest to the quarry who were delighted for the arrangement and appreciate the CSR initiatives in the district and the support towards Ngoma Primary School, one of the schools from the Green Schools Projects.

 

The 2nd and 3rd group was composed of key stakeholders and opinion leaders that influence and make key decisions at Kanara Sub-county and Kasese District Local Government.

 

The Kanara team was led by the LC 3 Chairperson Mr. Hategyeka Francis and the Sub-county Chief, Mr. Nuwamanya Didas, while the district team was led by the Resident District Commissioner, Haj Ali Mutawe and Ms. Rovence Tibimpama - the LC 5 Deputy Chairperson and Mr. Tahinduka Francis the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer.

 

Many issues that were previously wrongly perceived about Hima were clarified and facts laid out with the guiding presentation that highlighted Dura background, mining operations and Corporate Social Investment achieved country wide and in particularly in Kamwenge.

Ngoma residents appreciate the CSR initiatives presentation
