Hima Cement Sponsors Rotary Youth Leadership Conference

 

 

 

 

Hima Cement has announced a sponsorship of Ushs5,000,000 to support the 2008 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) conference that is to take place from 24th – 27th January in Entebbe. The conference is this year being organised by Rotary Club of Kampala South and is expected to attract 150 youth from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Eritrea.

 

Speaking during the presentation of the sponsorship at the Rotary Club of Kampala South felllowship, Hima Cement’s Commercial Manager Dennis Kashero said that Hima Cement is committed to supporting the development of youth into responsible leaders. “Tomorrow’s good leaders have to be developed today and we are always happy to be a part of this development process. We are particularly happy that this conference will bring together young leaders from all the East African countries and it is our hope that this will help bring the East African Community even closer than it is today” he said.

 

Receiving the sponsorship, Parity Twinomujuni commended Hima Cement for its continued support to Rotary’s community development activities. “This is not the first time that Hima is supporting Rotary. They have previously supported construction in Jjanyi Primary School and our annual Rotary sports gala and today Hima is supporting Rotary’s training programme for young people from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Eritrea. On behalf of the Rotary fraternity, I would like to thank Hima Cement for its consistency in supporting us to help the community. Thank you.”

 

The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) conference is a Rotary training programme for young people aged 18 – 30 years. Rotary is a global movement that is committed to community service, peace and world understanding and through this annual training programme, it expects to imparts these ideals of “service above self” to young people. This year’s RYLA is being organized by the Rotary Club of Kampala South that fellowships every Monday at Hotel Africana from 6-7pm. The event is to take place at Nabinoonya Resort, Kisubi, Entebbe from 24th – 27th January 2008.
