Hima Cement injects UGX 40M in the annual Captain and Lady Captain's Golf tournament

March 17, 2010. Kampala, Uganda: Hima Cement today announced a sponsorship of UGX 40 million for this year’s Captain and Lady Captain’s Golf tournament scheduled for March 20th, 2010 at Kampala golf club.

 

This is the 8th consecutive year the company has sponsored the Captain’s Prize tournament, making it one of the longest-running sponsorships of Golf in the Country.

"Our company has been part of the Golf fraternity for eight years now, and to have both tournaments played at same time is a great connection with our brand and to our future.

 

Hima's sponsorship of what is arguably the best golf competition in the country dates back to 2002, attracting both Professional and Amateur golfers.

A host of Professional and Amateur Golfers will take part in the competition which will see the Amateurs walk away with various prizes while the Professionals will be competing for a prize purse worth UGX 3 million.

Explaining how Hima Cement’s sponsorship has helped elevate the tournament, The Captain Mr. Okello Ochero said, “We are looking forward to a long-term relationship with Hima Cement towards the development of Golf in the country."

 

The Lady Captain Ms Fancy Agweng, said, “We are pleased to once again receive Hima Cement as the Title sponsor of the Captains’ Prize Tournament.”

 

Hima Cement also sponsors Hima Impis Rugby Club and the annual Hima Mak 10’s- Tournament East Africa’ leading rugby ten a side tournament.
