Hima cement wins fue eya 2009 - special category award for employee motivation initiatives
Hima Cement Ltd has received the Employer of the year Award in the “Employee Motivation Initiatives” category from the Federation of Uganda Employers.
The award appreciates the cement producer for among other things; shareholding initiative that encourages employees to purchase shares in the company, having better transport arrangement for staff, child care and education services to employee’s children.
Speaking while receiving the award, Hima’s Topher Atuhurira said their employees have been their greatest asset over the years and that is why the company thinks they deserve the very best. “Employee’s needs are a priority to any future looking organization and Hima is no exception. However at Hima, we take it further by encouraging a more personal relationship with them; finding ways through which we can motivate and keep them focused” Atuhurira said.

The annual awards this year ran under the theme, “HR Alignment to Business Strategy” and were administered by FUE in partnership with PILA Consultants who verified the questionnaires filled by employees with follow up visits and assessment meetings.
In 2008, Hima Cement walked away with the Special Award for Occupational Health, Safety and Security, an award they received because of their efforts in among other things conducting occupational health and safety training and providing personal protective gear to all employees.
