Hima Cement sinks Ush30m in annual Captain’s Prize and Lady Captain Golf tournaments

 

 

 

 

March 10, 2009. KAMPALA, UGANDA. Hima Cement today announced sponsorship of UGX30million for this year’s Captain’s prize and lady captain golf tournaments scheduled for March 14th, 2009.

 

This is the 7th consecutive year the company has sponsored the Captain’s Prize competition, making it one of the longest-running sponsorships of Golf in the Country.

 

This year’s event will be held at Kitante golf club Kampala. Hima's sponsorship of what is arguably the best golf competition in the country dates back to 2002. The tourney attracts both professional and amateur golfers in the region

 

“Hima cement is proud to support these golf tournaments. It is our goal to enhance the experience of the participants and members of the golf fraternity. We look forward to continuing to positively impact lives of the participants on and off the golf course,” said Dennis Kashero, Commercial Manager Hima Cement.

 

Kashero mentioned that Hima’s sponsorship of one of the country’s most challenging sports will continue.

“We value the strengthening of corporate stakeholder relationships and the sponsorship of the captain’s Prize and lady captain golf tournament helps us achieve this goal and also demonstrates our commitment to this superb game,” said Kashero.

 

Like in previous years, a host of professional and amateurs will take part in the competition which will see them walk away with various prizes while the professional golfers will be competing for a prize purse worth millions of shillings.

 

“We are pleased to count Hima cement among the supporters of our longstanding commitment to golf in the country. This partnership will help us advance the Uganda Golf Association efforts to enhance the playing and competitions for our growing membership,” said Joel Okullo, the Captain.

 

Ms Fancy Ogweng said: “We are very delighted, yet again, that Hima has decided to extend its patronage for the captain’s cup and lady captain’s competitions and we look forward to working with them in what promises to be one of the best competitions this year."

 

Hima Cement also sponsors the Hima cement Impis rugby club and the Hima Mak 10’s- East Africa’ leading rugby ten a side tournament.
